PatringtonSaturday 14th October 2006 |
On Saturday 14th October, 2006, the Band was invited to perform at Easington as part of the celebrations to mark the opening of the Langeled project. This mammoth project aimed to link England and Norway by gas pipeline, to ensure a secure gas supply for this country, for the future years. Although the gas actually started flowing on the previous Tuesday, this day was the official launch in Easington, as well as a thank you from the companies involved to the villagers of Easington, for the disruption caused by the building of the pipeline and onshore receiving station. As well as the Band's performance, school children from Easington and Norway sang, and the local Mayors and MP's, delivered addresses. It was quite appropriate that the Band played at this opening, as they had performed at the turf cutting when the project was launched in 2003.
Following the performance, several of the Band relocated to Patrington to watch the Super League Grand Final, featuring Hull F. C. and St Helens.

Kathy smiles for the camera whilst Shaun frets because the television hasn't been warmed up yet!

Funny, but the 'late' Sam Kind was always on time for the post concert refreshments.

Mark, advertising a well known brand of washing powder, and Liz trying another foul-coloured combination of Malibu and something.

What did Sam say that caused Tony to turn around and guffaw? Answers on a post card please.
