The Committee             

 

The following people make up the Band Management Committee. The Officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Equipment Officer, and Band Sergeant) are elected at the Annual General Meeting, and serve for a period of one year. The members without an officer position, are also elected at the Annual General Meeting, and serve for one year. All members can seek re-election at the end of their term of office. All members have specific responsibilities, which are listed below. Anyone can apply to be a member of the committee - it is not restricted to playing members of the Band, so if you have particular skills, and would like to help structure the future of the Band please contact the Chair, either directly at a rehearsal or concert, or by email at eymsbrassband@yahoo.co.uk    

Tony Newiss

 

Chair

To Chair all meetings of the Executive Committee and facilitate the free flow of information between the Band, Musical Director, and Committee and vice versa.

Tony also has responsibility for the following administrative areas:-

North Bank Publicity, EYMS Sponsor Liaison, St John Ambulance Liaison, Charity Commission Liaison, and Grants/Lottery Applications.

 

 

John Mathews

 

Vice Chair

Assists the Chair in carrying out his duties and to carry out all duties of the Chair in his absence.

 

 

Julia Mathews Secretary

To handle all initial correspondence on behalf of the Band,  and to be responsible for contest entry and the registration of all playing members. 

 

 

Mark Unsworth Treasurer

To keep appropriate books of account and prepare annual accounts, including profit and loss account and balance sheet as at March 31st each year, and be responsible, in conjunction with The Executive Committee for the strategic financial planning of the Band. To be responsible for the maintenance of all bank accounts held by the Charity. To be responsible for all monies coming in to the charity, and prompt payment of all financial obligations incurred by the Charity. To liaise with the appointed accountants, and to be responsible for the claiming of Gift Aid and any other tax benefits claimable by the Charity.    

Mark also has responsibility for the following administrative areas:-

Concert Secretary, Newsletter Editor, Webmaster, Internet Publicity, and Band Merchandise.

 

 

John Belton Band Sergeant

To be responsible for the overall discipline of the band during rehearsals and public performances. To co-ordinate transport arrangements for players and equipment, to contests, concerts and other public performances. 

 

 

Position Vacant

 

 

Equipment Officer

Maintains an up to date inventory of all the Band's property and to oversee allocation and recovery of all equipment. Also to maintain up to date contact details for all members.

The four Charity Trustees of the Band - elected at the Band Annual General Meeting held on the 18th April 2010 - are Tony Newiss, Julia Mathews, John Mathews, and Mark Unsworth.
